Chad Ramnarine
Chad Ramnarine joined the Pipes & Drums of California Professional Firefighters as a side drummer in 2003. Ramnarine has been a firefighter for nearly a decade and currently works for the Alameda County Fire Department. Ramnarine grew up in a musical family, playing concert snare at the age of 7 and moved to a five-piece drum set in high school. Ramnarine's first experience accompanying a bagpiper was at a friend's funeral. Sekou Turner, 28, died in the line-of-duty from cardiac arrest after rescuing and carrying an individual down three flights of stairs. Ramnarine feels grateful to have the opportunity to honor grieving families and friends. He feels that when families see a sea of blue uniforms and hear bagpipes and drums, it brings them a sense of support, honor, respect and closeness. Ramnarine feels that the International Association of Fire Fighters annual memorial ceremony and the California Professional Firefighters annual memorial ceremony are incredible events that every firefighter should experience in their career.
