Born in Fort madison, Iowa, Brian Dunlap was always someone who wanted to help others. At the age of 8, his mother recalls a time when he saw pictures of starving children – and cried because he couldn’t go there and help them. Brian became a firefighter for the Department of Forestry and Fire Protection in 2002. Two years later, he had re-enlisted into the U.S. Marines in 2004. Prior to his death, he was deployed to Iraq and was part of a military transition team that was training and advising the Iraqi army. Brian was known as a person to make friends for a lifetime. He was an avid listener of music and enjoyed surfing in his freetime. Brian’s life was cut short when a roadside bomb was set off near Baghdad. Source.
