Kanton.Chris_Photo RESIZEDChris Kanton, age 23, was killed in a vehicle accident on August 6, 2005 when his engine was responding to a call for assistance. While in high school Chris served as a paid call firefighter at Heritage Ranch in Paso Robles. After graduating high school in 2000, Chris attended and graduated from the Allan Hancock Fire Academy in Santa Maria, and served three years as a seasonal firefighter in Riverside County. He completed HazMat training and served on the HazMat team as a fulltime firefighter. When he wasn’t on duty, Chris worked for the Ski Patrol at Big Bear and rode dirt bikes during the summer. Chris was an avid wakeboard, snowboard and motorcycle enthusiast, and played hockey. He leaves behind his parents, Paul and Mary, sister Heather, and wife Kathryn
