Edward Paul Clayton began his career in the fire service in 1978 as a seasonal firefighter with CAL FIRE. During his career with CAL FIRE, he rose through the ranks until he eventually became captain. Edward was drawn to being a firefighter because of the sense of urgency entailed in the work, and the importance of the work to those within his community. He was known for his warm smile, his passion for beekeeping and his love of nature. Edward passed away from the effects of job-related heart disease. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Carolee, his sons, Trevor and Kevin, his daughter in law, Rashandra, and his granddaughter, Sophia.
