Johnny Minsoo Chun began his fire service career as a volunteer firefighter for the Carmel Highlands Fire Protection District, before eventually joining CAL FIRE on a full time basis. His love for the job, attention to detail and dependability made him an indispensable member of his crew, whether they were called upon for an ocean rescue, to fight a fire or respond to a medical emergency. Johnny will be remembered for his sense of humor, as well as his love of camping, shooting, cooking and going to the races. He is survived by his wife, Sun, and their children. Johnny died in 2016 following a battle with job-related cancer.
