Willie Dunn had a smile that brightened every room and an infectious laugh that would echo throughout the fire station. Oftentimes, children of firefighters would visit the station and ask with wonder, “What’s that sound?” “That’s just Willie,” firefighters would reply. Willie’s upbeat attitude and genuine affection for his job and his firefighter family were the trademarks of his life. He began his career with the LA City Fire Department in 1982 and worked there until cardiopulmonary arrest took his life at the age of 47.
