Grant applications are available online through the Foundation’s online system and can be submitted until July 15, 2019. Awards will typically be for $15,000 but requests outside this range will be considered.
Funding requests will focus on fire safety education, prevention and preparedness outreach programs:
- Local firefighter associations and fire departments in collaboration with community based organizations are invited to submit requests for fire prevention and safety education messaging most relevant to their communities, covering such issues as wildfire safety, emergency preparedness, or first responder community engagement.
- Tier 3 and Tier 2 CERT/NERT or safety-focused organizations will receive funding priority; other factors for grant award may include size of organization’s network, percentage of organization’s network identified as a disadvantaged community, and capacity of organization to educate the target population most effectively.
**Eligibility: Fire departments, firefighter associations and community based organizations (CERT/NERT or safety-focused organizations) throughout California are welcome to apply for wildfire safety and preparedness funding. Tier 3 and Tier 2 high wildfire risk areas, as defined by the California Public Utilities Commission will receive priority. Additional eligibility factors for funding consideration may include size of organization’s impact reach, percentage of organization’s service area identified as a disadvantaged community.
