Brian Long received the Daniel A. Terry Scholarship award in 2009 while studying Fire Technology at Cabrillo College where he graduated with honors. After receiving his A.S. Degree, he was hired as a volunteer firefighter and EMT for the Branciforte Fire Protection District in Santa Cruz where he remained for 6 years and was promoted to Lieutenant. Brian enrolled in the paramedic program at Emergency Training Services (ETS) in Santa Cruz and became a Nationally Registered Paramedic in mid 2013. In 2014, Brian was married to his wife, Lauren, and achieved his career goal of becoming a firefighter when he accepted a job as a Firefighter/Paramedic for the City of Watsonville Fire Department. He and his wife welcomed their first baby, Emmy Marie, to their family in 2016 .
