SACRAMENTO, October 6, 2023 — The California Fire Foundation has received a $250,000 Economic Development Grant from Chevron to support immediate relief to survivors of disasters to meet their basic needs such as gas, food, and clothing.
The California Fire Foundation’s Supplying Aid to Victims of Emergency (SAVE) and disaster relief programming brings aid directly to survivors of wildfires, floods, or other natural disasters throughout California.
When disaster strikes, those impacted often must flee their homes with nothing more than the clothes on their backs, and, in the wake of a major flood, wildfire, or other natural disaster, Chevron understands the importance of offering immediate comfort and direct assistance to help ease a survivor’s traumatic burden.
Working together with the California Fire Foundation, firefighters throughout California distribute SAVE cash cards ($250/each) to eligible survivors, so they may purchase necessities such as gas, diapers, groceries, food, and medicine.
“We are enormously thankful for Chevron’s generous grant to the California Fire Foundation," said Rick Martinez, Executive Director of the California Fire Foundation. "Chevron believes in our mission and having their continued support for nearly a decade ensures the California Fire Foundation can aid more Californians when they are heavily impacted by disaster.”
Chevron’s partnerships and investments in health, education and economic development strive to advance progress and strengthen communities.
The funding provided by this partnership will help those most in need after a disaster, to not only recover but prosper.
