LODD: CAL FIRE Fire Apparatus Engineer Cory Iverson

CAL FIRE Local 2881, CAL FIRE San Diego and the entire California fire service is saddened to announce the loss of one of their own in the line of duty.

CAL FIRE Fire Apparatus Engineer Cory Iverson was killed Thursday, December 14, 2017 while fighting the devastating Thomas Fire. Brother Iverson died while working the eastern front of the fire near the community of Fillmore as part of a strike team from CAL FIRE's San Diego unit.

Brother Iverson was 32 years old, and had been a CAL FIRE firefighter since 2009. He is survived by his wife Ashley, and a two-year-old daughter. The family's second daughter is due this spring.

A memorial service honoring Cory Iverson and celebrating his life has been scheduled for this coming Saturday in San Diego:
