LODD: Fresno City Fire Engineer Sandi Johanns

The Fresno City Fire Department and Fresno City Firefighters, Local 753 are saddened to announce the passing of one of their own in the line of duty.

Retired Fresno City Fire Engineer Sandi Kiefert Johanns passed away on July 27, 2018 at the age of 51 following a battle with job-related cancer.

In 1998, Sister Johanns made history when she became the first woman to join the Sanger Fire Department, a distinction she would also earn a couple years later when she became the first woman in the North Central Fire Protection District.

Sandi joined the Fresno City Fire Department in 2002 and was promoted to engineer in 2005.  She served the majority of her career with Fresno City and retired in April of 2017 because of the job-related illness that eventually took her life.

Services for Sister Johanns will take place on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 10 A.M. at the Peoples Church in Fresno (7172 N. Cedar Ave, Fresno, CA 93720).
