From a young age, Chet Bertell was a natural fit for the fire service, a born leader with a strong sense of service, a hands-on attitude, and a deep commitment to his community and the people in it. When Chet was not busy at work, you could find him hosting his family and friends, and he enjoyed cooking for them, whether it be for four people or a crowd of 40. He loved tending to his herb garden, reading, and doing crossword puzzles. Chet was faithful to his beloved Chicago Cubs and passionate about live music. Chet was also a supportive and loving brother to three sisters and a devoted uncle to four nieces and nephews.
