From the age of four, Daniel Geary knew he wanted to be a firefighter and later followed his two uncles into the fire service. He began his firefighting career with the Valley Center Fire Department in San Diego County before joining CAL FIRE in the San Diego Unit in 2013 as a Fire Fighter II. Daniel served the citizens of California with honor and distinction for over 15 years, leaving a lasting impact on CAL FIRE and the communities he served. Outside of his work, Daniel loved surfing, motorcycle riding, working out and music.  He passed away in July 2018 from a job-related illness.
