Randolph E. Gross began his fire service career as a Volunteer Firefighter in 1987 with the El Dorado Hills Fire Department. He then joined the Citrus Heights Fire Department in 1989, which later became the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District, where he rose to the rank of Fire Captain. Throughout his life, Randy poured his positive energy into everything he did. As a Captain at Metro Fire, his crew would enjoy his passion and ever-optimistic attitude. On Urban Search and Rescue California Task Force 7, Randy became a K9 search specialist, where he and his search dog, Dusty, would become the symbol of dedication and teamwork that embodied the US&R program. Randy enjoyed outdoor activities with the people he loved. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Donna, their children, Ashley, Shelby, Evan, Brianne, and their granddaughter, Skylar.
